08/06/07   New Halkey-Roberts facility hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with Mayor Baker in the Gateway Business District

On August 1, 2007 Halkey-Roberts held a ribbon cutting ceremony, attended by Mayor Rick Baker, to commemorate its brand new facility located at 10001 28th Street North in the La Entrada development of St. Petersburg’s Gateway business district.

Halkey-Roberts is a manufacturer of specialized precision valves used in medical and military applications. They have been providing original equipment manufacturers with innovative, cost efficient and quality components for over twenty years from St. Petersburg.

Experiencing continual growth in its service industries, Halkey-Roberts began a search for a larger facility in 2004 to keep pace with growing product demands in the medical and military fields. The growth required the firm to relocate from its previous 72,000 square foot facility in St. Petersburg to the new state-of-the-art 134,000 square foot facility in La Entrada. Working with the city’s Economic Development department, Halkey-Roberts was approved for the State of Florida’s Qualified Target Industry (QTI) Program for the relocation and expansion of its headquarters office and manufacturing facility to the La Entrada area of the Gateway business district.

The Qualified Target Industry Tax Refund Program, (QTI) is an incentive program administered through the State of Florida that allows Florida communities to encourage quality job growth in targeted high value-added businesses. The program provides tax refunds per new job created to new or expanding businesses in targeted industries or a corporate headquarters.

Halkey-Roberts committed to the creation of 70 new high-pay positions in St. Petersburg which added an additional $2,547,930 annual payroll to the city’s employment base. Its experienced staff of manufacturing, sales and engineering professionals provide a cost effective and innovative solution to fit specific business application needs. Currently, Halkey-Roberts has over 200 employees at its new state-of-the-art 134,000 square foot facility.
