07/30/07   The City of St. Petersburg is Gearing Up to Exhibit and be a Sponsor at the ICSC Florida Conference

The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and today consists of 65,000 members worldwide. The City of St. Petersburg is a member of ICSC and its invaluable network of support and shared services which are designed to make deals happen in the retail industry.

On August 12-14, 2007, the City of St. Petersburg will be a Sponsor of the Florida Conference being held at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, FL.  Each year ICSC’s Florida show is a highly anticipated event and exhibitor space sells within its first three months of launching registration for the event. More than 4,000 attendees are expected and the City of St. Petersburg is an exhibitor in the Florida Deal Making Exhibition held on Tuesday, August 14 from 8:00am-2:00pm located at booth #1514.

The city’s Economic Development department is gearing up for a very successful showing. There are deals already in the works from mailings last month to over 70+ retail, entertainment and dining entities and follow-up meetings are being booked at the show, in hopes of making contacts that will lead to retail partnerships.

As part of our efforts to recruit new retailers to one of our main shopping, entertainment and dining districts known as – Downtown, Tyrone and Gateway, we will be distributing and sharing information on available retail properties.  If you are a developer of a mixed-use project or property management firms with retail space and would like your property information included at our booth #1514, please contact Kimberly Bailey at 727-893-7784 or send a listing of your properties for review via email. Property flyers are requested to be supplied by developers and property management firms to Economic Development, located at One Fourth Street N. 9th floor, in packets of 100 no later than Thursday, August 9th.

ICSC is hosting a local pre-networking function, The Next Generation, on July 31, 2007 at Tropicana Field from 5:00pm-7:10pm. The event is designed for top industry leaders to share industry insights and to tap networking skills to gain a competitive edge in today’s changing real estate market. Mayor Rick Baker will kick-off the event with a workshop discussion on how to build better relationships with government officials and employees. At the conclusion of the program, a drawing will be held for a mentor luncheon at Outback Steakhouse with Craig Sher, CEO of the Sembler Company.
