Early and Save Big at the Annual Downtown Business Association Sunrise Sale
Once a year the Downtown
Business Association holds its annual Sunrise Sale. This year marks the 34th
anniversary of this premier sales event, which also serves as a main public
relations/ advertising event for the association. The premier press coverage
from the St. Petersburg Times, local television coverage and in-store
promotions, draw a substantial crowd of shoppers to both retail and service
businesses along the downtown waterfront.
Approximately six years
ago, the association re-invented the experience by introducing a Pajama
Party theme. Pajama clad shoppers receive special gifts and extra
promotions from many of the retail and specialty shops.
The Sunrise Sale runs
from 6:43am through 11:00am on Thursday July 19th. Over 40
downtown St. Petersburg retail and specialty shops participate in the
annual sales event and some provide bargains as much as 80% off retail price
listed… remember to wear your pajamas to receive extra discounts from
participating shops.
Established in 1973,
the Downtown Business Association is a non-profit membership association
for diverse St. Petersburg businesses, which include arts, retail, restaurants,
banking, utilities, city government and other various types of businesses,
all sharing a common interest of promoting our esteemed downtown area.
Members of the Downtown
Business Association aid in promoting downtown St. Petersburg as a vibrant,
safe and friendly waterfront environment with outstanding entertainment,
cultural attractions, educational facilities, retail, art galleries,
medical care resources, architectural design and business opportunities.
The ultimate goal is to strengthen awareness of downtown St. Petersburg and
all the amenities it has to offer residents and visitors alike.
The Downtown Business
Association is a founding member of The Looper trolley service, which is
responsible for transporting hundreds of thousands of passengers throughout
downtown each year. For the Sunrise Sale, The Looper is
available free of charge to catch one amazing sale after another.
