3/6/06 St. Pete Shines – 126,000 IP Addresses Can’t Be Wrong
The City of St. Petersburg Economic
Development Department’s web site has had more than 201,000 visits by more
than 126,600 unique visitors - measured by Internet Protocol addresses - in
the past year, making it the city’s most-visited department web site. For historical
perspective, the site had 70,000 visits and only 17,700 unique visitors in
the first year online (4/03-4/04).
The web site is a critical part of the department’s larger
“St. Petersburg Shines” marketing campaign to promote St. Petersburg as a
vibrant economic driver. These efforts have won a Florida Economic
Development Council Award of Excellence and a Southern Economic Development
Council Award for Best Marketing Campaign.
Some of the most popular pages on the web site have been
the development updates on the Greater Downtown area, Gateway/Carillon, Tyrone/ West St. Petersburg, and South St. Petersburg. These are updated
with the latest information, sometimes daily, as the department receives it.
The average length of a visit to the web site is five minutes and
twenty-eight seconds – well above the internet average of around 30
seconds.
