2/11/08                       Dedication Grand Opening Ceremony

On February 6, 2008, Jerry Shaw, President of Opus South along with Mayor Rick Baker and invited guests, dedicated 400 Beach Drive, an elegant 29-story condominium offering 93 spacious residences, at its grand opening ceremony.

400 Beach Drive, located at the corner of Beach Drive and 4th Avenue North, creates a dramatic renaissance of luxurious urban living. The development features retail and restaurant space on the street-level, creating a lively destination and sophisticated ambiance along St. Petersburg’s signature boulevard.

Jerry Shaw reminisced about the development’s beginnings just five years ago and stated, “Opus South is proud to complete its second project along St. Petersburg’s premier downtown location. 400 Beach offers a cohesive, pedestrian-friendly atmosphere, with outdoor sidewalk cafes and magnificent views. It has been a true pleasure of ours to work with the city’s very professional staff and council members.”

By the end of this month, 70% of the contracted residents will have closed on their property and begin living in a vibrant, urban downtown environment. Residents span young professionals to empty-nesters with a common denominator of living a dynamic lifestyle. 400 Beach Drive practically sold out its 93 units within five months of groundbreaking in 2005 and currently only three units remain available for purchase.  In fact, currently only 100 new residential units are available downtown, this indicates the strength of the city’s urban living market. St. Petersburg’s magnetism consists of 85 restaurants within walking distance, numerous public facilities from marinas and art museums, to its picturesque waterfront parks.

Mayor Rick Baker expressed “It’s another great day in St. Petersburg and it is a pleasure to usher in the city’s next phase of our incredible renaissance - urban living.”

The city’s retail palette gains depth as 400 Beach Drive welcomes distinct new offerings to the 23,500 square foot ground floor retail area. Sir Robert Irvine, star chef of The Food Network, will be opening Ooze ‘n Schmooze, a world-class restaurant concept, in Spring 2008. Robert’s premier clientele list includes: the Queen of England, President Bush’s Inaugural Ball, and the Oscars. The restaurant will include an on-site production studio for The Food Network and video streaming to air worldwide. CoCo Brazil a premier women’s clothing retailer and Sebastian Cole’s European Signature Fashion men’s apparel retailer are looking forward to opening by Summer 2008. Within two weeks additional tenants are expected to be announced with retail space expected to reach 86% occupancy.

Jamie Bennett, City Council Chairman stated, “Quality has arrived in downtown St. Petersburg. The development captures everything the community asked for and more with public art infused into its masterful design.”
