12/26/05 First Night 2006
First Night St. Petersburg started in 1993, led by a group of citizens interested in bringing the event
to our community. Today there are over 100 communities throughout the
world that welcome the new year with a First Night. St. Petersburg is one
of only three communities in Florida where the various performing &
visual arts groups celebrate the community, the new year and art.
The 13th Annual New Year's Eve
Celebration of the Arts begins at 2:00 pm on December 31, 2005. An opening
ceremony at Mt. Zion Baptist Church will kick off this year’s event and
welcome the expansion of venues into Midtown. A total of 35 venues will be
showcased this year between the Midtown and Downtown locations. This is a family-oriented
festivity with music stages, art, drama, entertainment, dance, games, fireworks
and more.
Adult tickets are $8 in advance; $10 on event day; $5 for
ages 6 to 12; and children under 5 are free. And First Night happens rain
or shine!
