12/11/06 – Parkshore Plaza Welcomes New Beach Drive Retailers

Parkshore Plaza, a new Opus South development at 300 Beach Drive NE, is home to the latest additions to downtown St. Petersburg’s thriving retail market.  A three-story setback, including several townhomes, provides 22,000 SF of shops and restaurants surrounding the 30-story residential tower.  Here’s the lowdown on what you’ll find!

Parkshore Grill is a 175-seat upscale restaurant serving lunch and dinner seven days of the week.  Owner Steve Westphal and Executive Chef Tyson Grant, a recent recipient of “Best Chef in the Bay,” have created a true feast for their patrons’ senses.  Rich mahogany wood runs throughout the dining area, along with tile mosaics and water features.  Sidewalk dining is also available, so that guests may enjoy a view of downtown’s waterfront park system and marina.  The appointments perfectly compliment Chef Grant’s cuisine and the Grill’s 1,000 bottle wine cellar.  Click here for menus or to make your reservation.

Ronay Jewelers, a five-generation mainstay at the beach, has expanded to downtown St. Petersburg with a clear focus on the local client.  Under the supervision of Manager Jim Gross, their collection of fine jewelry and objects d’art at Parkshore Plaza includes Brightland and Charriol watches, high quality blown glass, layered sterling silver sculptures by D’Argenta, floral-themed works by Leo Pizzo, and more.

Paciugo Gelato serves more than 200 flavors (40 to choose from each day) of the traditional Italian frozen delight, as well as sorbets.  Additionally, Managers Carl and Toni Riche are there every morning at 7am, offering locally baked pastries and fresh brewed Gran Miscela caffè to start your day.

17th-century English venture capitalists came to America looking for tea, but you can simply go to The Hooker Tea Company.  Partners Shawn Hooker and Kendra Rodriguez blend tea leaves and other botanicals to create more than 101 varieties of tea.  A multitude of tea sets and tea-steeping devices are also available for purchase.  To top it all off, you can surf while you sip with their free wireless internet!

Last but certainly not least, the Croatian Naïve Art: Gallery and Museum Collection offers for viewing and purchase works created by self-taught artists – hence naïve - and collected by proprietor James Nannan.  Far from untrained, the artists' use of color and the oil-on-glass technique showcase vivid, eye-popping depictions of everyday life.
