11/6/06 – Progress Energy Florida Headquarters Nears Completion
Less than 18 months ago, Progress Energy unveiled their
plans for their new downtown headquarters building. Today, the 16-story,
200,000 SF project is preparing to welcome the first of more than 500 employees
at the end of November. Workers for general contactor Brasfield &
Gorrie continue to work at a feverish pace on interior build-out of lower
floors and recently added a decorative spire on the southwest corner of the
tower.
Joined by St. Petersburg College and Florida International Museum, the Progress Energy Florida Headquarters is part of downtown St. Petersburg’s “Perfect Block.” Next year, the southeast corner of the block will give
rise to the Kessler Grand Bohemian Hotel & Residences. When complete,
this live/work/play/learn site is estimated to have nearly a billion-dollar
direct and indirect economic impact on the St. Petersburg economy.
