11/13/06 – Construction Commences
on Signature Place
Cantor Development has commenced
construction on Signature Place, the 36-story, $125-million, architectural
masterpiece set to rise at 100 First Avenue South in vibrant downtown St. Petersburg.
When complete, Signature Place will be the
tallest building in Pinellas County and will span an entire city block in
the heart of downtown St. Petersburg. It will include 206 condominium residences
priced from the $400s, 40 lofts, 19,313 square feet of ground-floor retail,
36,737 square feet of office space, and a parking facility with 505
designated spaces. The development will also feature a 35,000-square-foot
Sky Garden Oasis, an Urban Plaza with a six-story Waterwall, and a
world-class spa onsite.
The site formerly housed BayView Tower, formerly the William C. Cramer Federal building, which was purchased by Cantor
in 1999. The building was demolished in June 2006 to make way for Signature Place. The first residents are scheduled to move in late 2007, and project
completion is scheduled for late 2008.
Signature Place will flaunt cutting-edge
design. The architecture reflects a slender and angular profile, that of a
sail in motion. The building will endow its residents with unyielding water
views, and its mixed-use components of residential, commercial offices, and
retail space will integrate Signature Place into the social and business
fabric of surrounding downtown St. Petersburg.
Bovis Lend Lease, the world-renowned project
management and construction firm, is general contractor. Perkins+Will, an
internationally acclaimed architectural firm, is the architect. The project
is estimated to cost $125 million. St. Petersburg-based Clemmons Architecture
is associate architect. EDAW, one of the largest landscape architects in
the world, is designing the Urban Plaza and Sky Garden. The six-story
Waterwall is being designed by the internationally acclaimed WET Design.
