11/5/07   Synovus Bank of Tampa Bay Corporate Headquarters Makes a Move to Carillon Business Park of St. Petersburg

Synovus Bank of Tampa Bay is a state chartered community bank and first established its Florida headquarters in 1996, in downtown St. Petersburg. Due to a phenomenal growth rate since its inception, Synovus was in need of a larger headquarters facility. Synovus has now expanded its presence to a new location in the Carillon Financial Business Park of St. Petersburg.

Synovus Bank of Tampa Bay currently operates 19 full service banking centers in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Manatee and Sarasota counties. It maintains an asset value of $1 billion and is an affiliate of Synovus, a diversified financial services holding company, based in Columbus, Georgia. The company focuses on its unique decentralized customer delivery services, is positioned in high-growth Southeast markets, and committed to being a great place to work for employees.

Synovus’ new corporate headquarters is home to the bank’s executive offices, human resources, marketing, and accounting departments. With approximately 250 employees throughout five of the seven counties that comprise the Bay Area region, its new headquarters is now equipped with a centralized training center to maintain its bank training curriculum to ensure the most knowledgeable staff to service its ever-growing customer base.

Synovus’ downtown location remains an active banking center for customers, a central hub for all commercial accounts established in the south, and includes its lending and trust market division.

Susan Blackburn, Executive Vice President of Synovus Bank of Tampa Bay, sees the move as an expansion of the business and not a relocation. Susan stated, “The St. Petersburg market over the past 10-years has been a dynamic and growing financial marketplace. We see it as a vibrant business community and an ideal centralized location to service our customers located with in five of the seven-counties of the Bay Area market. We hand selected the Carillion Business Park location because it provides direct access and feeders into each of these growing areas and its presence as a financial district of the city.”
